3RD ETHOS Gallery in partnership with SVA’s Visible Futures Lab is pleased to announce “EN”, a solo exhibition of experimental technology artist CHiKA . “EN” features a series of sonic light sculptures that interact with the viewer through optical illusions. The show will run from 03/14/2019 to 03/31/2019
with an opening reception on Thursday 03/14/2019.

“EN” will run through 03/31/2019. The artist will be present at the opening reception on Thursday 03/14/2019 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. The event is sponsored by SVA’s Visible Futures Lab and The Brooklyn Cider House, a local cidery specializing in Basque style ciders made from apples harvested in their own Hudson Valley orchard.
About the Artist:
CHiKA is a Japanese born, NYC based artist. Her work is grounded in geometric minimalism that may include complex mechanisms that interact with the viewer. CHiKA is a founder of a projection mapping and LED mapping workshop, Mappathon™, that teaches students projection mapping techniques, from concept to installation. She’s worked with a wide range of creatives ranging from experimental sound composers, 8-bit musicians, and club DJ’s to design ways to create dialogues with audiences.
CHiKA has been a resident fellow at the NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program, an IAC/InterActiveCorp Teaching and Research Fellow for Vimeo, an Eyebeam resident artist and a BRIC Media Arts Fellow, Bronx Museum AIM Program member, Harvestworks Workspace Resident and Elsewhere Artist Resident. She is currently a resident at Mana New Media Residency and her work for “EN” was created during her residency at the Visible Futures Lab.
Her work has been shown in numerous international venues and festivals, including the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Art and Design, NY Hall of Science, Bronx Museum, among many others.
